You can feel the difference with the newly enhanced grip. The non-reflective aluminum-like coating and soft silicone inlays make the SoundFile easier to hold, perfectly balanced, and comfortable to use. It's also built tougher than ever. The SoundFile is reinforced for durability to withstand more rigorous usage.
Grit Rating: The Nano Glass SoundFile is roughly equivalent to an 800-grit finish. The surface is designed to leave the nail edge exceptionally smooth while still providing enough abrasion for regular maintenance.
Lifespan: With light use 1–2 times per week, the Nano Glass SoundFile should last up to a couple of years before you begin to notice a meaningful reduction in efficiency. Of course, lifespan can vary depending on how much pressure is used and how much material is being removed.
Etching: The nano surface is not etched or sandblasted into the glass. Instead, the microscopic pattern is printed directly onto the surface of the glass with microscopic precision. This is different from traditional sandblasted glass files, which create an abrasive surface by physically etching the glass.
Usage: It can absolutely handle light shaping in addition to final polishing. For more substantial shaping or shortening, we recommend starting with the Sapphire Metal SoundFile and then finishing with the Nano Glass SoundFile. For routine nail maintenance, though, the Nano Glass can often handle the entire process on its own.
