These string beads are designed for the treble strings only (plain nylon, not wound) to convert them to ball end style. Tie a knot or two in the end of the string, slide the bead on and you are ready to install your nylon string. Simple, clean and quick.

Ball end string problem

The ball ends I received are likely for a guitar and they are too big to fit inside the holes of my baritone ukulele. Nothing wrong with Strings by Mail. Just a fluke that I can’t find ball end strings for my brand new Mitchell baritone uke.

Very useful

I have bought a fair amount of these for the guitars I obsessively build for myself. I almost always use Nylgut strings and these ball-ends work equally well on plain and wound strings both. They also give me options on how I want to anchor my strings whether I want to use bridge pins or a pull-through bridge or tailpiece.

Great low profile ball ends

These ball ends have holes for both an inner diameter for the thick wound strings, as well as the small Treble strings. These worked perfectly for converting my islander GL6 to E tuning as it uses bridge pins
