Optima 1519 Silver Classical Guitar Strings High Tension

There was absolutely nothing special about this set and it sounded very much like plenty of other average strings on the market. First, it’s not quite a “high tension” set, but rather a “medium tension” when compared to other popular brands. Second, it sounded very mediocre when I strung my fine concert, spruce top, classical guitar with it. It decreased my guitar’s projection when I played in a medium-sized recital hall. Third, even though the manufacturer claims on the package that they use a some kind of anti-corrosion coating on the basses to extend their life, they got oxidized and decayed just as quickly as the vast majority of other average silver-plated strings on the market. Plus, even before they started tarnishing, they sounded somewhat dull, flat, and lacked any kind of brilliance which any good bass string has when it’s fresh. While these strings are not totally horrible and the quality appears to be decent, they aren’t totally great either. Thus, I cannot recommend this set to a friend since, fortunately, nowadays one can certainly find more decent sounding strings within a similar price category.
