Vintage, Warm, and flexible
Review by Corey A. on 26 Jan 2018 review stating Vintage, Warm, and flexible I have come to really appreciate a nickel roller wound string on my les paul copy (even shorter scale at 24.5in), so I was really excited to try these out and I was not disappointed. Compared to similar strings on the market these sound even warmer and have a tiny bit more flexibility (I think this is a function of the round core versus a hex core). The strings aren't super magnetic, so the sound is smooth and creamy with lots of sustain. These strings do distort extremely well too without sounding muddy either (not as bright as perhaps some brands for this usage, but I am able to achieve some burning tone with simple tools like a DS-1).
If you like a vintage sound but don't want to only sound vintage, these are really great strings. The rollerwound wrap also stiffens the string a little but still retains flexibility.
PS> La Bella is also a phenomenal company. For whatever reason, the G string from this set broke at the tuner before I was able to get it to standard pitch. I emailed La Bella using their "contact us" button on the weekend and told them my predicament. I offered to buy a single string and even pay for the stamp, and honestly I wasn't expecting much. Sunday night I got a response and they told me that they were sorry that happened and offered to send me a free replacement. They were extremely nice and made sure I was completely happy with the product. They were great to deal with and their strings sound really good, you can bet I'm going to buy more of their products, you should give them a shot yourself.
