Hannabach 815HT Silver Special w/ Durable D Classical Guitar Strings

See above title. I’ll be a return customer.

Put on a fresh new set 7 July 19. Picked up the EH-90 to play and the Durable D (?) had parted right at the bridge. I've played that guitar about an hour a day for only 5 weeks! I have 2 other classical guitars in the same studio with different sets of Hannabach strings. They have been played as much and the D string is still intact. I believe I agree with one of the other reviewers, Andrew S. These are great strings sonically, but that Durable D has an endurance issue that needs the manufacturer's attention. I have ordered another set without the Durable D...

I switched over to this Hannabach set after play Sauverez which I truly like, but I discovered the 815H's had a wonderful dark tone and not as bright on this particular guitar. I could play either brand but right now, this is my current favorite.

To begin, these strings sound and play like a dream. You may then be wondering why I only gave three stars, and may further be wondering about the title of my review.

The "Durable" D itself is the source of my complaints, I'm sorry to say.

I have never once had a string randomly break overnight, so much as this one. Before you ask, I'm a trained classical guitarist, and a trained guitar repair tech; I know how to care for the instrument properly. There's no humidity issues, no burrs on the bridge, nothing. I'll string up my guitar, and then a couple days later, I'll wake up in the morning and go into my office to play and poof, I'll walk in only to find a popped D string that needs to be cut and restrung.

I have to say that, when the string is actually strung up properly, it sounds and feels great. You can actually feel how much stronger the string is than a normal D. But with that said, I'll be sticking with the standard set.
